A fundraising effort for Nathan Rogers, a life taken too soon. All proceeds will go to his son Nathan Jr.
Nathan Rogers was a friend to many, but he was a very close friend to me. We were extremely supportive of each other in all goals we set for ourselves. I told him about the 18-mile Norwegian Foot March when I was asked by my unit to participate, he told me I was crazy but that I should do it and he would train with me to prepare. It was something we were looking forward to. Unfortunately, a cowardly act of jealousy and violence took Nathan away from us. I am determined to help him accomplish as many goals he had as possible.
Nathan was a great father and was extremely proud of his son Nathan Jr. He had plans to create a college fund for him to get a head start in life. This was a huge driving force behind his dedication to the Inland Kava Bar he owned and operated. Nathan was a proud, honorably discharged US Coast Guard Veteran. I have decided to dedicate this military event to him as a way of him keeping his word to me to help me train, as a thank you to him for his military service and to help him keep the goal he set for himself to set his son up for success.
I will do all the running. You will see me through town wearing a 30 pound rucksack with a QR code on my back Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday regardless of what the weather looks like. I will post the route I ran including a picture at the end of every run. I have led by example and made the first monetary donation into Nathan Jr`s account. I will be participating in the Norwegian Foot March held on a military base in Southern California on April 12th and will post pictures during the trip and final results. I also plan to take it a step further and ruck the Bloomsday race in Spokane.
I just ask that you help accomplish Nathan`s goals by sharing our cause and by donating in any amount you can comfortably afford. Every single dollar sent through this fundraiser goes directly into a secure, high yield memorial account in Jr`s name, which can only be accessed by him when he turns 18.
Thank you all for your generosity and support!
As Nathan would say, "BULA!!!"
On February 23, 2025 Nathan's life was taken in a brutal act of violence. Nathan was a business owner, a friend, a father, a son, a brother, a mentor, and a light to so many in the community. His passion for creating a space of connection and peace at Inland Kava Bar brought people together in ways that only he could. His kindness, warmth, and unwavering spirit will never be forgotten.
"Day one training for the Norwegian foot march (18 miles, 30 pound ruck, 4 hours 35 minutes) I’m doing in April. I’ll be doing it in April in memory of my close friend, Nathan Rogers we lost on February 23rd in Post Falls, ID."
-Branden Black
In this special episode, I sit down with Branden Black, an Army veteran and close friend of the late Nathan Rogers—a U.S. Coast Guard veteran who recently and tragically passed away. Nathan was a man of strength, service, and heart, and his legacy lives on through Ruck for Rogers—a charity Brandon founded to support Nathan’s son’s future.
The mission is simple: raise $37,000 for Nathan’s son's college fund. Through the spirit of rucking, something Branden connected to his own Army training, people can participate, donate, and carry the weight of Nathan’s memory forward.
